[Milsurplus] Yagi Antennas

Gang:

Was it on here where the statement was made something like Yagis were not used before WW2?  Or do I have an incorrect recollection?  

I encountered an old issue of IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation (ca 1990) which has an interesting historical article about Profs. Yagi and Uda.  That use statement was correct when applied to Japan, but Yagis were used lots of other places in other countries before 1942.  Another case of a prophet not recognized in his own country---etc.
