[Milsurplus] Tags on Signal Corps Gear used by Navy

I have a BC-1000-B here, green crinkle, with an auxiliary brass tag, on top the
control cover, "USN PROPERTY" and a long number. It also has the "B+ OFF"
switch modification near the push button - to keep the B batt from slowly 
discharging.
But, i do NOT necessarily think the BC-1000 used by US Marines in battle,
necessarily had this tag, which i suspect, only suspect, no proof, was added
postwar, with more concern about "correct nameplate" and all that, then.
I think a grey repaint would indicate Navy, and postwar overhaul for use by
shore police, shipyards, harbor work, and such.
I was going to auction this BC-1000 months ago, but darn, it's hard sometimes
to say farewell. Gotta heed Dave Stinson's program and advice, tho.

I'd like to know what valid handset numbers were, for the  BC-1000.

BTW, related only by way of "lip microphone"  (T-45 ?? ), i saw in a
Time-Life book,  "Crossing the Rhine", page 184, "American sound
truck announcing regulations to Germans", the sound truck has 3
trumpet speakers on rear top, and the announcer is wearing a lip
microphone - i presume to eliminate the possibility of audio feedback.

Also the same series, book "Victory in Eurpope", page 84, Russian
interpreter sitting in jeep, holding T-17, before a BC-654, trying to
contact Russian units.

This is a quite interesting series of books. The place to buy them is
a Goodwill type store.  One interesting factoid i learned is that  1/2
of German POWs did not return from Russian captivity. I had 
read elsewhere that 2/3 of Russian POWs did not survive German
captivity. I think US POW losses under Japan were about 1/3.
