It's not so silly. 110 : 6.3 is a ratio of  about 17.5. That is the turns ratio.
The impedance ratio is that squared or:  about 306 : 1

So if the load is an 8 ohm speaker, the reflected impedance at the primary is
about 2450 ohms, which is not unreasonable. If it's an ordinary tube output,
there is a bit too much iron. If the output is single ended (likely), there could
be a saturation issue, because power transformers are not gapped.

All in all, not a crazy choice.
