[Milsurplus] Weird mount - MT-1988/PRR

A friend picked this up at a local flea market,
Vietnam era looking radio mount, data plate
designation is MT-1988/PRR.  The only PRR set I am
familar with is the PRR-9 and -9a, but this mount is
about the footprint of a RT-70 receiver or so.  Anyone
have any idea what this thing is used with?
