There are various(V) versions of it, some in the clear, some 
encrypted, and several generations now.  I think the -V actually 
refers to the fact that the air and 'ground' versions are remarkably 
different.  I worked on a cranky one on the Bataan a while back, 
someone stacked a bunch of them in the radio room and they weren't 
getting enough cooling.  AFIK, they are still in use, or were a 
couple of years ago, the last time I was on a ship full of Marine 
helios.
