Don't forget that the RS-38 is used with other Navy/Marine Corps equipment
too and not only with the TCS. It gives a much higher modulation level with
the same speech volume when I use it with the RT-91/ARC-2 HF transceiver.
It's also the standard mike used with the T-631/GRC-14 (so far I've been
testing mine only on CW) and I have no doubt the modulation level will be
equal to that of the T-195/GRC-19 with the M-29 mike.
The RS-38 is also used with the RT-136/GRC-13 (a short-lived Marine Corps
equivalent of the RT-77/GRC-9) and many others.
