Hi all, in answer to Davids questions:
The AT5 did not have a case. It had aluminum side covers with louvres, which
from memory slide in from the back. You may see the slide rails top and
bottom.
The rear cover holds them in. The AT5 rear cover was blank with slide locks.
Your unit should have 4 studs with grooves.
The plastic windows should be white, you hand write the crystal frequency
alongside the crystal number.
The AR8's were fairly common here but now are harder to find. I fire up my
AR8 now & then, works fine.
There was no UK version, entirely Aussie design & manufacture. (Amalgamated
Wireless (Australasia) Ltd. not Antique Wireless Association). AWA
manufactured vacuum tubes under licence to RCA. They also made vibrators,
speakers, wafer switches etc. most everything to build complete radios.
I do not have an AT5 or the Aerial tuning unit, which is almost as big as
the AT5, so there would be much difficulty trying to get a complete setup.
Cheers,
John Kidd in Australia.
Seeking some AT-5 parts: I need a good outer case.
There are two small plastic windows just below the HF Master Oscillator
dial. They are oxidized. Can anyone tell me what these originally
displayed?
I'm also seeking original connectors for it. I'm hoping to find the matching
receiver, which would be an AR-8 (Australian or UK, either OK by me).
If you have one, I have lots of trade material.
