Ethical considerations aside, this would be a nontrivial undertaking 
involving the modification of hard to access coils and other components.   Also, 
likely to be tracking problems in both the receiver and transmitter over the new 
frequency range not to mention new dial scales, etc.   Easier to just go get a 
GRC-9.....
