Hue,

If  I get an unmodified surplus set I try to get it operating in it's 
original state. If I pick up a modified set and I cannot restore it to to's 
original state I don't have any qualms about modifying the radio. Most 
surplus equipment available at hamfests is modified and usually goes for a 
low price. I like packing up a hacked command set for a couple of dollars 
and getting it to work.
