You could always substitute a ZB-2 or -3 homing receiver "converter" in place of the DU. The ZB will fit in place of the RU tube cover. But the ZB's associated control and relay boxes are hard to find, about like the DU. Does anyone know if any single USN aircraft installation employed both a DU and a ZB?
I've got just about everything I need for a fantasy USN setup consisting of an ARB, a ZB-3 (clipped on top of the ARB), an ATD, a DU-2, and a LM-20. I call it a "fantasy" because I don't have a warm feeling that any ATDs were ever actually placed in service, nor would an LM-20 normally be found in an aircraft, nor would it be likely, IMO, that both a DU and a ZB would be part of the same installation. But the gear looks neat all together.
Somehow, technology-wise the ATD seems to be a natural match for the ARB. The ATC seems way too advanced to waste with the limited capability ARB, even though that was the most common combo.
