John -
1. You do not have to worry about it; I sent the whole 9 yards the dial
with complete assembly. Just mount, add the tuning and band switch knobs.
2. I have done this procedure in the past, to paint the Dial.
On some models the pin is "lock tite" 'ed in.
Tools
Get some dry ice.
Small stainless steel rod about the same size as the pin.
Welding stock? to use as a pin driver. A small Nail may do.
Nail set punch with a flat face.
Set punch.
3-in-One Oil or Liquid wrench.
Warm up the whole assembly up in the sun. Or light box.
Clamp in place.
Apply dry ice on/to head of pin, Not long, Count of 4 to 6, The pin
gets cold quick.
Tap pin with Nail set punch.
When flush with surface switch to Set punch and tap again.
Put in a drop of oil.
Finish Taping pin out using punch of wire stock.
This actually this procedure goes quick using the Hot/Cold technique.
