John,

Swapped out the dial mechanism on my 348K a number of years ago.   Didn't 
remember any particular problems so puled the chassis out of it's case to take 
another look and I see what you mean.   Believe I was able to get a 1/4" drive, 
12 point socket on the bolt head and turn it a few degrees at a time with a 
swivel-head drive handle.
