[Milsurplus] R-392 power connector and cabling

All: I have begun restoring the T-195 and R-392 (finally got a 28 VDC power
supply suitably large to run it all). The previous owner (or the one before
him) cut the dogbone cable between the R-392 and T-195 apart to be able to
power the '392 by itself. I'm going to have to recable the assembly with
new wire, since there's not enough left at this point to be able to splice
back together (he cut at one end). Additionally, the original cable is now
very brittle. Finally, I think I'm interested in either (a) acquiring an
additional dogbone cable so I can use what I have for running the 392 by
itself or (b) building a breakout box with the two connectors I already have
and some suitable additional parts.

Here are my questions:

a. What is a suitable cable for replacing the dogbone wiring? I have found
some 8-conductor 12 AWG shielded cable on the internet, but at $2.45 per
foot it's kinda expensive.

b. How needed is the shield--if not much, standard heavy-duty rotor cable
ought to be OK, I think. I haven't found a shielded rotor cable in my
searches.

c. Is it possible to pick up the dogbone cable anywhere? I checked Fair and
the e-place with no luck.

All comments welcome!
