A Day on 14.310 ("channel .310"), circa 2045 A.D.

  "W1CB, Dubya One Chicken Bone, this'uns K5FM,
Kelloggs Five Foot Warmer. Come'own back, good buddy..."

   (silence......)

   "Where'dja go, Charlie? Your Lean-Yar blowed a fuse ah-gin?"

"No; I'm tryin' to be a good operator.
This here old 'A-R-R-L Operatin' Guide' says
eyez 'sposeded to wait for the "roger beep," 'fore I tawk."

   "Dad-Gum, Charlie! What's a A.R.R.L.?
    Always Run Radio Lean-yars?
    Throw that old book away.
It ain't fit no more. Don't you know the last of them beeper guys
died two yars ago? We ain't got no more beepin' on ham radio!"

  "10-Fourty Roger, Jim-Bo. I fur-got.
Glad it weren't my Lean-Yar fuse. Last time that dang thing
blowed a fuse, it cost me a bunch for the Ham Radio Shop
down at the truck stop to fix it.
   Hey.. hang on; I'm gonna
plug in this new Echo-Mike I just got from Yea-Zoo.
It's got some good sound 'fects, too! One sounds just
like a big-ol'monkey. I'm gone use it on them peckerwoods
  up on channel .315! ha-Yuck ha-Yuck!"

"Go get them knot heads, Charlie! I'll wait.
    This'ear's Kornflakes Five Foot Warmer,
    'be 10-10 and listenin' in....."
