Yes, just like the revitalization we saw after the no-code Tech license appeared, followed by the miraculous infusion of enthusiasm and talent after 5 wpm General and Extra licenses appeared.  Wait a moment...I guess none of that happened.  Sorry.

When will our government bureaucrats learn that lowering standards always, without exception, harms any endeavor or activity?  I was helping a number of no-code Tech hams who were working for their 13 wpm General when the speed requirement dropped to 5 wpm seven years ago.   They all then completely abandoned ham radio...no challenge there anymore.  I agree with their sentiment, and respect them for that.

Anyone truely interested in vintage radio technical details and history, with the extremely important role that Morse operation played within, can only be discouraged.   Morse skill and interest in radio history are natural partners.
