[Milsurplus] Radio Ranges

While looking up some information for another fine gentleman with
interests in old stuff i pulled out a Radio Facilities Chart LF/MF
edition from 1956 to look for info on Beeville and Mathis ranges.

Mathis out of San Angelo is shown but the Beeville range is not listed.

I didn't even realize i had this particular Facility chart. However in
addition i found one of the pages listed "YG Beacons within the
Continental United States." It also had a little chart next to it, kind
of like the Ohm's law circular thing that shows you the ways to use that
formula, a circle with sectors marked off and letters in each sector.
Funny thing, to me anyway is that 0/360 is at the bottom of the circle
with sectors marked every 30 degrees in a cw direction. A note
indicates that the An/ARR-2 type airborne receiver is required for
Navigational use of these beacons. Channel 1 of the receiver has a
modulation frequency of 540 kc, Ch. 2 is Tactical, Ch. 3 is 600 Kc, Ch.
4 is Tactical, Ch. 5 is 660 Kc and Ch. 6 is Tactical. All the stations
listed that use the YG are Naval facilities whether landlocked or close
to water. BTW this publication says it's for United States Air Force
and United States Navy.

Anyway i thought it was interesting. Maybe some of you didn't know that
stuff.
