Donald- you are going to be extracting much less power from the dyno at 
1/2 rated primary power. WIth the caveat Mike mentioned, which could
perhaps be remedied with a zener or two at the right places, i would say
this is a reasonable idea. I would think the dynamotor would also run with
less stress on it at the lower RPM, making it last longer before required 
maintenance. -Hue Miller
