I have not verified this, but i would wager there's NO adjustment
you can do to the last IF can, the bandpass circuit, that will
significantly  favor SSB bandwidth over wider AM. The problem
is the overcoupled design. I suggest removing one pie from the
secondary winding and re-resonating the circuit. This is what i 
do plan to try, first on an outboarded IF system, then on the real
thing. But this is still pretty far down the project list. -Hue Miller
