[Milsurplus] WWII Equipment Wiring

The British R1155 receiver was completely wired internally using  rubber 
coated wiring which of course deteriorated over time and has caused many 
headaches among restorers including myself.

 My question to the group is did any other British sets contain  rubber 
wiring?

Did any other country use rubber  wiring in  communications equipment ? 
I would think that rubber would be in short supply in Great Britain during 
those years.
