[Milsurplus] BC-611 vibrator supply?

OK, you BC-611 experts:
In the September, 1944 issue of QST devoted to the Signal Corps, there is a section covering the various portable radios of the day.  Included are several photos of the BC-611 including an open bottom view: "Bottom view with the cover open, showing the battery compartment and, at left, the miniature vibrator which supplies plate power."  The very oblique view of that item appears to show something which looks like it would fill the B battery slot, plus a significant part of the A battery compartment also.  Was this item ever fielded, or was this just another SC pipe dream?
