The Atlanta history center here has had a WW-II exhibit that's lasted
over a year. Lots of vets were rounded up & interviewed. One of whom
is a ham, pal, and a Kasserine Pass high-speed cw op vet.

So I proceed to get an appointment with the curator to check advisability
of setting up a substantially complete SCR-188A running on 160 m.
See http://hereford.ampr.org/millist/pic/scr-188a.jpg

Further, there was a BC-611 and 2 C-D geiger counters fm a local shopping
center, an '03 Springfield, AND... some xtals made in Atlanta during
WW2 (PanEl electronics)

They went head over heels for proposition until the phrase "long term
loan" arose.

Not a chance said they. Only donations. OK I replied, glad to give
you the crystals- the origins of the company ought to make for neat
research.

Replay was "items not mainstream" & wouldn't be needed.

But why are volumes about ladies who embroidered officers cuffs "mainstream"
asked I. Going further and I said "Heck there's nothing here about
Bell making B-29s in next-door Marietta, GA."

That was the end of line & I was shown the door.

Lesson learned was Atlanta History museum is for the tea-sipping ladies.
And staff is graded on exhibiting things so-targeted.

AND. And here's an example where long-term loans anethma
