Mike,
6L6348-12.5 must be a typo. It would cross to a #3-48 x 1/2". I don't
recall where I ran across the correct part number (probably been years since) but
the part number makes sense in a left-handed sort of way. 6L6832-7.94S would
cross to a 5/16" long #8-32 screw. But the screw is captive, meaning that the
diameter from the head down a ways is approximately the minor diameter of the
threads (no threads in that area). And the remaining threads happen to be
about 5/16" long. If they had asked me, I would have done it the other way
(-11.11) but I was born about 4 years too late. :-) BTW, the numbers following
the dash in the 6L6 group "generally" indicate the length of the screw in mm.
Length is length overall for flat head and length of threads for other head
types. An based on empirical data, I think that suffix "R" and "B" mean round
and binding head respectively, and suffix "S" is steel.
It is relatively easy (if you only need a few) to make the correct screws in
a lathe, using an #8-32 threaded spacer and lock nut to hold the end of the
screw. Several applications of black Magic Marker comes close to looking like
black oxide finish.
