George:

The owner of the -2259 we used said the base that came with most such antennas includes an impedance-matching transformer. But most of these transformers get burned up (high SWR from a 100W rig?) and the entire system gets canned. (I know, I know - the -2259 is rated at 1 kW. BS!)

We did not have this transformer available. We simply connected the center of the coax/mast and the outer shield to the GRC-9 by clip leads then loaded the whole shebang. I realize this isn't the most efficient means of matching this antenna. But my original question was one about how the four wires are to be connected to the feedpoint. I know the matching system we used left much to be desired.

I tried looking up the AK-2202 on Yahoo! but no dice. Who made it? Thanks.
