Jack,

Come to think of it, a similar connector was used for electric skillets in 
this country at one time.  I don't know what the dimensions were but you might 
try looking at a smaller hardware, Ace or a mom and pop.  They tend to stock a 
lot of stuff you'll never find at Lowes or Home Depot.
