The remaining problem that I have with GF/RU or RU only (the USMC vet in OK
City still insists that his Half-track only had a receiver) installed in a
large batch of newly acquired M3's in late 1943/early 1944 is that the last GF/RU
contract year listed in SHIPS 242A dated 01 January 1945 is 1941 (they date
all the way back to 1930 for the original RU and 1932 for the original GF which
probably explains why the GF/RU combo uses the same dynamotor as the RU
alone).
If I could remember the nomenclature so that I could find it, I have a manual
with photographs of a USMC armored communications vehicle probably built
around the M4 Medium chassis.
