Mark,

I had originally suggested the TCS. But the SCR-608 (which could have been
in the M3's by the time they were retired or converted back to M3A1 Personnel
Carriers in Europe) is out. Remember that I had originally said that an
external view photo of one of the vehicles showed an HF antenna. Since then, I've
come across a second one taken on Tinian at the end of July 1944.

Do you have anything that would give a clue as to how/where the GF/RU was
installed in the M-2-4? I have manuals on several of the GF/RU and RU. None of
the manuals mentions ground installations. And to the best of my knowledge,
there was never any local control capability. I suppose maintenance personnel
could have lock-tuned the radios and then removed the tuning head. But that
still leaves control heads and cabling to mount somewhere. plus the radios and
dynamotor power unit.
