Maybe the topic has been hard wired before but the AC input
wiring schematic to the R-390A should be a source of inspiration
for those seeking longevity. For us in OZ using 3 wire ...active,
neutral , ground 240 V, the problems could be acute.
The input terminals R-390A rear, can accept either the active or
neutral but only one is switched via the FUNCTION switch.
The rx is switched off if the neutral line happens to be wired
via fuse to the switch, but still leaves the active line live
through the loom to the power transformer
. Inadvertent completing a body circuit via the active unswitched
line in the rx to neutral - ground IF so wired, could be fatal.
Also completing the circuit via the switched neutral line to
CHASSIS ground would also be a fatal attraction !. I don't know how
US 115 V lines perform but reckon same principles apply.
Whatever, switch the active.... yep once bitten , twice shy !
