[Milsurplus] Using Old Radios

In my opinion, Ebay has not ruined the hobby. Ebay allows people to find an
audience for whatever they want to sell. I have purchased on Ebay things
that I would have never found otherwise.
I believe that the hobby has been ruined by the fact that most military
electronic surplus never makes to the market. It goes to the smelter. I
cannot understand why 1960-70 aircraft/navy electronics needs to be
destroyed. This shows how little the people in charge understand about the
current threats to this nation.
I agree that sometimes things on Ebay get expensive, but this has to do with
supply and demand not Ebay itself.

Huh? I don't understand your point about ebay ruining the hobby. I've been
in the electronics business and hobby since the late '50s. I've bot & sold
tons of equipment through the mail, at real electronics stores, flea
markets, auction, etc. I've found more rare stuff for my collection in the
past 5 years on ebay than in the previous 40 years combined. I've also put
some very rare pieces (extras and stuff I don't collect) into the hands of
collectors who really wanted them. And made good money for my trouble. You
don't like ebay? Good for you. Leaves more neat stuff for me.
