bought a lot of them.
I'd sure like to know too. All I'd seen in Green Books was 245 deliveries
terrible & the WI Guard Cdr. that tried 9m cop car AM xtal-button sets used
that to help his Galvin try-out cause in '40.
Have one '223 here & another's nearby. One Rauland ~sn 960, other Federal.
Both on Chi '42 contract & to use Wm. Don-z's term, probably just
ordered on intertia. Like DuMont SCR-178s. Tho reportedly the Chindik's
found '178s all that'd work in rice paddies.
Don't guess these ever crossed the ocean but were used for training radio
basics - or nothing at all.
Again, we were lucky as &3!! we jumped 1st to 9m xtal control (Galvin)
then right after to 9m xtal-ctl FM (Link)
BTW Hue, legend has it '611 was made on spec by Galvin & Army got the
wowzers & ordered 'em up. 3-5mc spec was picked by Galvin to hit
most sets I'll bet
Don't forget the word bet.
