[Milsurplus] TBX part two

The TBX is possibly one of the worst set built to use under a combat
environment, the charts are a terrible method of trying to determine
your frequency not to mention the fact that they were different for both
the receiver and transmitter. Unless you had the external calibrator or
used the radio in the crystal control mode you would never determine
your frequency, and how much harder could it have been to put an AGC
system in for the AM mode? When using the radio in a net of several
stations like the 3885 net at Dayton you constantly have to adjust the
gain control. But with all that I do have to say that the six I use to
have received all stations and was heard by all stations whenever I used
it at Hamfest where a lot of 611s and newer radios failed and that any
radio that can work on 8.5 ma @ 90 volts and have a filament rheostat
cant be all bad, and I have to agree the one tube AM transmitter is
truly a marvel. Dose anyone have production dates for the eight? Would
hate to think they were in production past 43/44.
