I can vouch for that, especially with ADFs. I had an MN-26 in the ADF
configuration operating for quite a while and in a poor S/N environment it would
hunt badly. There really needed to be an 'Integration Time' control to slow the
loop response under such conditins.
With manual systems, it may be very hard to get a reliable null when there is a
high noise background. Also, the platforms were not exactly electrically quiet.
