[Milsurplus] B-36 run-up

I never got to see those big cigars, just a bit before my time.
Might've seen a B-58 a time or two (dad used to point up and say
"Look, it's a needle-nosed jet" which was common vernacular in those
days apparently). Also saw a Connie bleching smoke as she circled
Montpelier VT back in the early 70s, no idea why it was there. What an
impressive sight, though. I was up on a hill and it banked around in a
left turn. Buffs flew over the house regularly to and from Loring and
Plattsburgh. Nice whistling sound after they passed. SAC link for
Loring:

Some guy had a bunch of aircraft stored on his farm in Ohio, IIRC. One
was a B-36 he bought at auction, cut into sections for easier hauling
and used as storage for a P-38 and couple other planes. Not sure if
he's still alive and if not, what happened to the stuff. He had row
after row of aircraft stashed here and there. Lived up a small road,
too - must've been interesting getting the B-36 up there, even in
pieces!

Sounds like good reading to me, Marty. Strategic Air Command with
Jimmy Stewart is one of my favorites. Never seem to get enough time to
peer at the radio and radar equipment in those shots, though...
