It sounds to me the Navy ordered up "SAC Modified" A4/KWS-1 combos. They
had 2,4,8,12,17 MC
ranges added for use on military aircraft frequencies. The radio section
for 64th Air Division at Pepperrell AFB, Newfoundland had 2 sets for use on
the voice circuit between the Division and Thule, Greenland. On paper the
radio section was known as "Thule Patch" and the antenna used was "V" with
550 feet on a leg pointed due north at 90 feet in the air. I ran that
station for almost 2 years iin 1957-1959.
