Everyone:
First, thanks, Robert for doing the lookup. No manuals on the shelf in the apartment over here.
The Model 80 was a general coverage lab generator. Not sure there was a model with miniature tubes. Instead, Measurements produced a plethora of versions of the model 560 for the 2-way radio market, including several with the Motorola logo on them. And they switched to a miniature tube for the oscillator, but what it was escapes me. Anyway, the government had apparently settled on the 497 design, while Measurements moved to a different model number than the 80 for the commercial market.
%&^(*!*& it, I keep reaching behind me for reference material and it AIN'T there. I'll have the straight skinny when I get home in a week or so. Someone remind me.
73,
George
