The R-76/ARR-13 is an earlier radio than the 28 vdc BC-1206-C/Model 524. The ARR-13 is the Setchell Carlson Model 512, and it requires 14 vdc for filaments and a separate HV B+ supply. It has a button for selecting the 278 kc tower frequency that the 524 lacks. I wonder how the 512 got a JAN name but the 524 did not.

I thought most of these military Stinsons used the AVR-20 with either the AVT-112/AVA-126, or the earlier AVT-15 (which has a built-in vibrator supply).
With regard to using a ground FM set in aircraft, the post-WWII manuals for the A.R.C. Type 12 gear usually have a system wiring diagram that shows a VHF receiver (R-15), VHF transmitters (T-11, T-13), LF/MF beacon set (R-11), and a control box (C-37) which not only controls the A.R.C. type 12 gear but also an SCR-619 (BC-1335). I wonder how that worked, since the BC-1335 has no squelch. The BC-1335 is a pretty neat set except for that. It must have been a pain to listen to for the duration of a flight. At least the BC-1000 had squelch.
