[Milsurplus] Fedex Shipping...

Lets face it: all the various shippers do a good job sometimes, and a
bad job sometimes.

IMHO, the only reason ANY packages get damaged in shipping is due
to the SHIPPER not packaging them properly. Again, IMHO, if a
package YOU ship gets damaged, it is YOUR fault for not packing it
properly. We have to take as many of the ways a package could get
damaged in shipping into account when we pack. Imagine that your
item is going to be used by a couple of 400 lb go-rillas as a toy, and
pack accordingly.

I use the USPS for most fairly small items weighing up to 50 lubs, and
FedExGround for larger items and those weighing up to 150 lubs. The
main reason I use FedEx Ground is because they drive right by our
home, which is also our place of business, every day, and they pick up
with no problem.

I don't use Universal Package Smashers much, although I have had
reasonably good luck with them most of the time. They did damage one
package, not packed by myself, as did the USPS in the past 5 years or
so of doing this.

So far: I repeat: SO FAR (keeping my fingers crossed), I haven't had a
single thing damaged in shipping that I have packed myself, but then
my kids say that I "over-pack". My response to them was, "How can
you possibly "over-pack"?
