Peter, I can tell for having been involved with French pilot cadets in 
training in 52,53 in USAF with one as room mate of a 4 man room and 
others we got more gigs due to the Frogs than the guys with the Danes, 
Swedes,Beligins and Spanreds all put together.
I spent close to 40 years flying into all parts of France and dealing 
with all levels of the frenchmen and in over 95% of them they hate 
anyone that does not speak French "FRENCH".
I have been around the world over 100 times and 117 countries and have l 
lived in 12 or 13 of them. I flew out of Beirut for 2 1/2 years as a 
B-707 Captain with Muslim and Christian co-pilots and Flight Engineers 
that were fluent in English, Arabic, French and in some cases German or 
Swedish and in most cases we all hated layovers in France.

They in general do not like anyone that does speak proper French, but 
they for sure love getting hold of American Greenbacks.

Not going to get into the politics of how many they have hd their A**es 
saved.
