[Milsurplus] Packing heavy stuff

I ship about 1000 lbs a week of heavy radios and power supplies. and I have found that one of the best and cheapest ways to pack heavy stuff is to take small boxes and reused post office book type flat boxes and the like, fill them tightly with peanuts (worthless by themselves) and tape shut, then pad the front and rear panel with foam rubber and use the small boxes to block the item in place, this method gets rid of the peanuts ( which are right up there with hazardous waste in my opinion) and the useless small boxes.
if you pack the little boxes inside tightly you end up with a well supported unit and a outside box supported from the inside and even a not so strong box will work just fine and is strong enough to stand on when your done. even the free Wal-Mart boxes work fine, and there is no pulverized peanuts to pick out of the unit.
and the whole mess costs nothing that is if you have a friend that is a QVC junkie like I do!!
