[Milsurplus] shipping gripes

"Dumpster diving" is illegal around here. Too bad, I used to get great
stuff as a kid! Especially from demolition jobs... old phone stuff,
controls, etc.
Unfortunately some of us live in crazy areas. Around here it is de rigeur
to work insane hours. You may have free time at work, but you must be there
16+ hours a day, 6+ days a week or else they will choose from a long line of
replacements who are willing to spend that time. I do not really have time
to be on the radio any more, rarely do I get into my shop, much rarer to
even get to a swap meet. This is why I am getting rid of a lot of my stuff.
As for home and school tasks, my XYL pulls her weight in those areas. As
for the john, I make appointments a week in advance and hope they aren't
cancelled. My wireless headset helps, there have been countless deals
consumated while I was otherwise "occupied."
Again, I give away most of my stuff since eBay is too much hassle. Another
1000 pounds or so of valuable stuff, plus a couple dozen large trash cans,
and I should be seeing some daylight. If I know someone far away and trust
them, I will send and then tell them the actual cost and get it later but
that doesn't work on eBay.
