Marty -
You hit the nail on the head, this site is geared towards profit over
customer service by far, and can get away with it since they are
pretty much the only show in town with that level of exposure. Like
others, I seldom sell there as a result. Try to get them to deal with
a dishonest seller if you want the run around. Sellers are bringing in
the money, buyers shop for 'free'.
I see it being like the typical candy bar: used to be a lot bigger,
got smaller as price went up, then they suddenly offer you 10% more
'free' or such when it really doesn't even reach the initial size. I'd
expect epay will continue to inflate its fees beyond the reasonable
increases one might expect, then offer a 'huge fee reduction' at some
point that is still much higher.
Too bad someone doesn't have the $ to start up a flat-rate site, so
much per selling price and no additional BS. Less garbage on the pages
would be nice, too. As long as there are people willing to pay, what
incentive do they have to change their approach?
In the meantime, those of us who have to work for a living can vote
with our feet - and wallets. It's pretty much the only option at this
point. It certainly encourages selling and trading amongst ourselves,
something I've had very good luck with in the military equipment
circle.
