I do not believe this receiver was motorized scan-tuned at all, because the motor
apparatus would most likely be onboard, not on the tuning knob remote thing.
However, i do wonder why the tuning knob was remoted.
Also, from the dial, it does look like 2 bands, altho there's no bandswitch i can
see. I wonder if the band change, if i am correct, was done by merely limiting
the travel of the capacitor on each range. ( Dial looks like 70 numbers on left
side, 80 numbers on right side, so maybe 70-80 and 80-90 MHz. )
Probably it would be simple to retune to the current FM BC band, and would
no doubt make a pretty decent radio for that service.
To operate without a tuner, you could extend the capacitor shaft to knob
and maybe some kind of reduction or vernier drive. You would need to
probably find a good carpenter or sheet metal shop to make an overall
cabinet or cover.
I was just thinking last nite, and i don't recall just why, that i've not, in the
long run, really regretted disposing of anything, because it was always for
a necessary reason, and/ or that i got good quid pro quo for it, in money or
trade. HOWEVER, i definitely still regret, and always will, having NOT bought
some things. But, this thing is just too big for me.
