Yes- it is more practical. If you are moving, you can clip or otherwise attach the
mic to combat suspenders or shirt, while still wearing the headphones. You
don't miss calls. The weight is not that much more - still small compared to
a BC-1000. The replaceable units feature means if your antenna breaks, the
radio does not have to be sent back to rear echelon. I had not considered
the tube count but i am of the opinion the MAB battery could cope.
However, the only indication i've seen of the MAB use is a photo of it being
used by an AFRS reporter interviewing troops - how's that for a critical use?
I sure don't have any idea why it wasn't more used. Wouldn't it even be
easier to jump with? -Hue
