100' loop - that's VERY interesting.  But, I suspect (and I'm weak here) a 
horizontal loop is not good for low-angle radiation.  If you can make it 
vertical you've got something there.  Also don't discount the dinosaurs.  I 
think even a crystal set would be useful with some modern amplification.  My 
500 foot wire picks up some power line noise, but not much.  The biggest 
power line noise reduction came from grounding the receiver.
