Also, it makes a big difference as far as battery, and power/audio connections whether you are dealing with a RT-654/TRC-77 vs a RT-654A/TRC-77.

I have most of a very similar and identically-sized unit that is USB/CW mode.  Its nomenclature is RT-655/TRC-88, so it is obviously a follow-on development of the RT-654/TRC-77.  I don't think many were made.  Mine is serial number 9.
