You may have me on that one Hue ! I never did Spain to the US, but on the small parcles I have done from Austriala, Germany & the UK where comparable in price in both directions . Had a quote oncee on a 50-lb package from the UK once and that also was'nt real excessive. For what its worth one parcle to Spain once went unclaimed and did a round trip there and back in 13 weeks, no extra charge and not to bad on the wear & tear either!
