[Milsurplus] Info wanted: AN/GRC-87 and another

A friend showed me a (solid state) HF receiver made by Motorola, S/N #1, about the size of a URC-4 (sorry, that's the only thing I could think of that size), maybe slightly thicker.  This receiver is a 3 band job with 3 digital dials geared together, each showing twice the frequency of the one below it.  Maybe like 2-4, 4-8 and 8-16 MHz.  I need to get the R- number and the AN nomenclature, but this thing looks like a engineering prototype.  He had S/N #2 also and traded it some years ago.  Anyway, it sounds vaguely like the system under discussion, possibly a competitive design which was never produced.  I'll get back later with specifics.
