[Milsurplus] Sunair question

It's not the difference between the two. I have found vastly different
styles of PCB's just between 900DX's.

Did not like working on the 900DX, it ain't no Harris!

Check the +28VDC rail in the PSU. If it's way below 28V many sections will
not work, e.g. Audio Amp, RF Amp. If the 28VDC is not correct the most
likely cause will be one of the filter caps on the 28V line on one of the
modules. The caps tend to short. Keep disconnecting modules until the 28V
becomes good then check for a shorted cap on that board. Most seem to be on
the RF Amp.

Subject: [Milsurplus] Sunair question

Can anyone tell me the difference between the cinnercuak Sunair
GSB-900DX HF transceiver which I have, and the military verison,
AN/URC-92, which I have downloaded the manual for. They appear to be
the same radio but I've found some differences in the power supply
section, for example. Mine is so broken - nothing works, no audio,
synth knobs erratic, so I suspected a common problem like p/s - which
led to this question. Also, I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone
who has experience in working on this transceiver, or who may have the
commercial version of the manual.

Thanks and 73,
Bob W9RAN ______________________________________________________________
