Running my TBW transmitter on the 800-1 800 cycle inverter I got a
report of hum on the carrier. Hum (120 cycle) isn't easy with an 800
cycle power supply. .....
False alarm: Critical monitoring by local hams shows no hum on the
carrier, but I do have a wee bit of chirp. It's trivial by my
standards, which are admittedly low, and is a mark of character which
makes it easy to copy. I think the generator output voltage momentarily
droops key-down until it is pulled up by the carbon-pile regulator. I
am thinking about a solid-state regulator, but somewhere it has to
convert from AC to DC, which means a filter capacitor, however small,
which means a time constant, which may be no better than the carbon-pile
regulator. etc, etc,
