[Milsurplus] english iff unit

hi all,
         i'm after info on a air ministry REF No KA87770/500 transmitter 
receiver possibly an IFF unit.i suspect its much the same vintage as the 
AN/APX-6B as this has a Coder socket .and its a the size of a large 
paint can [and looks like the IFF in a can trick].
