got the newly acquired R-388 fired up. Now a question.

In the 388 manual they show 2 jacks on the front panel. One for
headfones and one for speaker. My unit does not have this. It has one
jack for headfones and where the 2nd jack was it has a toggle switch
labeled "break-in" ON- Off". On the front panel is labeled "MWO SIG
11-264A-1" Did that MWO change out the jack for the switch? Or, is
this not really an R-388? What's the difference between an R-388 and a
51J-3? Or are they the same radio just different nomenclature depending
on who wanted to use them?

The mod is not ham done, it looks like it might have been done in Depot
or somewhere along the radio line as the lettering matches up with the
rest of the lettering on the panel.

ALso, has anyone put a signal generator to the antenna input and
measured the sensitivity of theirs? With 400 cycle modulation i can
hear a signal at less than 1 uv. I takes about 90uv to read 40Db on the
"S" meter and about 12uv to read 20db. Is it fair to think that this is
a pretty good sensitive receiver? Methinks it is.

However the BFO arrangement is not working. Seems to be a thing with
all the receivers i end up with.
